Did you know that Ireland\u2019s west is home to the oldest and most significant concentration of Neolithic Tombs? <a href=\"https:\/\/heritageireland.ie\/places-to-visit\/carrowmore-megalithic-cemetery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>The Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery<\/strong><\/a> is a site of immense historical significance, so much so that it\u2019s earned a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tentative List.<\/p><p>Settled along the C\u00fail \u00cdorra Peninsula, this ancient location is home to more than 30 ancient tombs, with a few dating back almost six thousand years. The impressive megalithic chambers made from massive boulders are a must-see, as is the newly renovated cottage, which offers a deeper insight into the background of the ruins.<\/p><p>Visitors are free to explore the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery however they like, either self-guided or with a tour group. Inside the visitor center, there&#8217;s an option to take a printed map with a route, so you won&#8217;t miss anything important. Plus, the grounds have some handy facilities like toilets and a car park. Although the cemetery is currently closed, it&#8217;s due to reopen in June
